Macy – April 25, 2010

Macy joined our home as a foster dog in March, 2009, after being rescued on her final day at a rural Alabama shelter.  She was a shy little girl and very afraid of my other dog.  She quickly became comfortable with all the activity in my home and blossomed into the DIVA we all knew dwelled within. She loved her big brother, Bailey and was a little mama when baby Charlotte came home to live with us in November, 2009.  Shortly thereafter, Macy became ill with a brain tumor.  She fought this battle bravely despite losing an eye to the disease, walking like a drunken sailor and some not so pleasant personality changes, directed toward her brother.  After 6 months of treatment the cancer finally won,  but Macy would only surrender on her terms, just like she lived her life.  She died surrounded by her family, in her mama’s arms on April 25, 2010

Macy, you were only with us for 13 months, but those 13 months changed our lives.  I hope you felt all the love we had for you.  Heck, we know you knew how much we loved you… you took advantage of it at every opportunity.  I miss you as much today as I did the day you left us.  Mean Aunt Macy, Racy Macy or Shannon’s Mini Me, there will never be another like you.  Thank you for allowing us the privilege of spending the last months of your life with you.  I will see you again at the bridge, my precious.

Your Mama Forever
