Phoebe

1/3/25 – Please welcome Phoebe! Phoebe was picked up as a stray and turned over to us by the shelter. She has a pretty severe double ear infection t and her ear canals are closed up some. We will treat with steroids and ear medication and visit the dermatologist for a long term plan to see if we can avoid TECA surgery.

1/29/25 – Phoebe had surgery today and all went well. She was spayed and had her nares widened.

2/20/25 – Phoebe saw the dermatologist today. We are going to continue steroids a bit longer to see if we can continue to open her ear canals. She also has special ear medication to get clear up the yeast and bacteria and we are starting a diet trial to eliminate any possible food allergies.

3/5/25 – Phoebe had a recheck with the dermatologist today. The steroids and ear medications are working. We are transitioning her to a different ear medication for long term use and maintenance. She will need to continue to see the dermatologist for the time being so that we can keep an eye on her ears and allergies.

approximate age: 1
approximate weight: 20
likes dogs: she does not mind most of them in public settings but she would prefer to be the only dog living in the home
likes cats: she met a few briefly that she wanted to chase, not sure if it was playful or not
likes kids: she would do ok with older kids, but not toddlers (she likes to steal their snacks and will run out an open door)
food: at the moment – Taste of the wild, Pacific Stream
lifelong medications: ear medication to control ear infections
Likes- stuff toys, running in backyard, belly rubs, sitting close to owner
Dislikes- sharing with other dogs
What would be the ideal home for this dog? A home with a lot of love and cuddles, someone willing to keep up with her ear treatments, she would do well in a home with older kids, she would do best in a home with no other animals, she needs to be watched around open doors because she will attempt to run out them if given the opportunity
