Asher Snacks

5/20/22 – Please welcome Snacks! Snacks was purchased as a puppy but recently returned to the breeder because of “stomach issues”.

5/24/22 – Snacks had neuter surgery today and all went well. We are not clear what those stomach issues are just yet, but we have noticed some regurgitation of water. He tends to drink a lot of water quickly then regurgitates it. We did an x-ray of his esophagus today but did not notice any abnormalities. We will continue to monitor this. We believe he may have some anxiety that we will continue to monitor as well.

5/17/22 – Snacks has been adopted.

2/21/25 – Snack is back with us and now he goes by Asher Snacks!  He seems to suffer from anxiety.  We are trying out some different anxiety medications to see what will work best for him.  We are also planning to see the veterinary behaviorist to see if there is anything else she can suggest for him.  He needs a dog free home and an owner that is home more often then not (either works from home or is retired).   He is a sweet little cuddle monster if you are sitting around with him but gets a little worked up when and barks you move around, when he comes out of his crate and when he goes out potty.  His anxiety causes some water and food regurgitation which is something we are also trying to work through.  We are hoping that once he gets settled in with the right person he will be less anxious.

8/1/25 – Asher Snack is doing great in his foster home, but he is still searching for the perfect forever home! He will need to be in a home with someone that is retired or works in the home.  Having someone with him throughout the day helps with his anxiety.

approximate age: 3
approximate weight: 20
likes dogs: overall he did not enjoying living with the three that he was with for two years, he picked on the smaller older one and did fine with the larger ones, we think he would be happiest in a home with no other dogs
likes cats: we have not seen him around cats
likes kids: he would be fine around older kids
food: Taste Of The Wild, Pacific Stream
lifelong medications: anxiety medication

likes: being near his people as often as he can, cuddling on the couch, his KONG filled with peanut butter

dislikes: being alone during the day (he does great in his crate overnight), too much quick activity from his people (but we are working on this with training), he barks when the doorbell rings, the phone rings, or he is in a new environment but he settles down fairly quickly once he realizes those situations are ok

Ideal home: he needs to be in a home with at least one person home during the day for work or retired, he would do best in a home with no young children or other dogs, he needs someone to be patient with his barking for a few minutes until he settles in, he needs someone willing to work on training and reassure him that things are ok
