Shorty – April 20th, 2018

Shorty is a 3 year old owner-surrender to a shelter in coastal SC.  Not sure of the reason for surrender, but I would be very hard-pressed to give up a dog as handsome and docile as Shorty.  The shelter Shorty was in has a foster program, and he lived a short time with a foster parent with little English Bulldog experience.  Three weeks into foster care Shorty felt comfortable enough to begin acting like a bulldog.  Shorty nipped at his foster dad’s shoe when he didn’t want to do something he was instructed to do.  This frightened the foster parent who therefore returned Shorty to the shelter.  NOTE:  I believe this “impish” behavior is common among bulldogs – more playful than aggressive.

Shorty is “short”, compact and very, very cute!!  He will be a Velcro dog to his new owners as he loves, loves, loves human interaction.  He got along well with Daphne on transport and showed no signs of dog aggression when we got to the vet.

Shorty is UTD on shots, heartworm negative and appears otherwise healthy.  He will have to spend 2 weeks in quarantine before he is available for adoption.  During quarantine he will undergo neuter.

April 20, 2018:  Beau, formally known as Shorty, crossed over the rainbow bridge today.  Please keep his family in your thoughts.

Rest In Peace Beau
