Maude – January 9th, 2014

2/28/12: Maude is a sweet female with dry eye, cherry eye, yeasty ears and heartworms and she is not spayed.  She is currently being treated now at our vet.  Once she is healthy enough she will begin heartworm treatment.  Maude is two years old.  She will not be available for adoption until she is spayed and heartworm free.  More updates and photos to come.

Update 3/12/12:  Maude had her cherry eye surgery and we were able to get x-rays of her hips.  She has arthritis in her hip joints on both sides, the femoral heads are flattened and the pelvis joint is deformed.  We also think that when she walks the hip is slipping out. Funny though, Maude doesn’t seem to notice since she’s probably had this all her life. Will be going to GVS for evaluation and possible FHO surgery.

Update 3/20/12:  Maude began her heartworm treatment.  Once it is complete, she will be moved to a foster home and will go to the specialist to have her hips evaluated.

Update 4/14/12: Maude has completed her heartworm treatment and was moved to a foster home.  She is a love bug!  She is getting along great with her human siblings, both under three years old.  She likes her canine foster brothers too but dose not like when they get attention.  Her foster parnets are working on this behavior.  We hope to get her to the specialist in the new few weeks to have her hips evaluated.

Update 5/4/12: Maude had her evaluation with Dr. Cross at GVS today.  Looks like her knees are more of an issue than her hips!  But she still does have some hip issues and some shoulder issues!

Diagnosis: Right and left cranial cruciate ligament tears, bilateral hip dysplasia with osteoarthritis, shoulder arthritis.  She will start joint supplements and she is going in on Monday for her first knee surgery.  She will go back in 6-8 weeks for the other.

Update 5/7/12: Maude had her first of two knee surgeries.  All went well.  She is recovering at her foster home.  She goes back in two weeks to get her stitches removed then back in six weeks for a followup visit and x-ray.  If everything is healing as it should be at the six week check up she will have her other knee done then.

Update 5/22/12: Muade had her stitches removed.  Dr. Cross says she is healing nicely. She goes back in four weeks for an x-ray and if all looks good she will saty for her second knee surgery.

Update 6/14/12: Maude had her second knee surgery.

Update 7/2/12: Maude had her stitches removed.  She will go back in four weeks for a final check up.  After that she will be ready for adoption.

Update 9/17/12: Maude has been having some potty issues (she is going a lot and whenever and wherever she pleases).  Dr Ross has been doing some tests; so far a urinalysis to check for UTI; an ultrasound and x-rays.  We hope it is not a medical issue but we are doing everything possible to find out what kind of issue it in.  We have tried “potty training 101” and have had some success!

Update 2/17/13:  Maude attended the Bully Ball on Saturday night and was lucky enough to meet the Ken & Phyllis Craft!  The Crafts spent most of the evening by Maude’s side and of course fell in love with her.  The next morning before they left Four Seasons to go back home they adopted Maude.  It has a been a long journey for Maude but we know she is exactly where she is suppose to be.  A big thank you to the Gorsky family that fostered her for eight and a half months before they moved to AL and to the Kile family that has taken care of her for the past month and a half.  Congrats to Maude, Ken and Phyllis!

Update 1/9/14: Our sweet Maude went to the Rainbow Bridge on 1/9/2014. After spending nearly a year in rescue being treated for heartworms and then having both knees repaired, Maude was adopted by a wonderful bulldog family. Maude’s big night at the Bully Ball 2013 turned into her pot of gold as Maude found a furever home with the Kraft’s. Please keep Ken and Phylis in your thoughts and prayers as they grieve the loss of their baby girl. Rest in Peace precious girl.
