Marley Monroe – January 24th, 2024

12/20/21 – Please welcome Marley Monroe! Marley Monroe was picked up by animal control and turned over to the shelter. When no one came looking for her she was able to join the rescue. Unfortunately, she was not very well cared for and is not feeling great. Her blood work shows some irregular liver issues that we are addressing with oral medication for a few weeks. We will recheck bloodwork in two weeks and if things do not look better, we will move forward with an ultrasound to see if we can determine the issue. She had been diagnosed with dry eye and will need prescription eye drops for life.

Her eyes are in horrible shape. She has severe untreated dry eye, an eye infection and cherry eye. We are treating her eye with topical ointment at the moment and hope to get them looking and feeling better over time. She has limited vision, but we do not think she is completely blind. We think she is 6-8 years old.

.
1/11/22 – Marley’s bloodwork was not looking significantly better yet so we moved forward with an ultrasound today. It showed some inflammation in her kidney but no obvious masses or tumors. We are running a few other tests to see if we can determine what exactly is going on and the best treatment plan to get her feeling better.

1/20/22 – We have ruled out lepto as the issue. We are going to keep her on the current medications for another two weeks then recheck her bloodwork.

2/8/22 – Marley Monroe’s bloodwork is normal! And her eyes are looking and feeling better already. She will have surgery soon.

3/14/22 – Marley Monroe had surgery today and all went well! She was spayed, had her cherry eyes tacked down, her palate shortened, her saccules removed, and her nares widened.

4/29/23 – Marley Monroe is doing great in her foster home but still searching for the perfect forever home!

11/1/23: Marley Monroe had an episode which we believe was ivdd and wasn’t walking very well a few weeks back, we had her on a short dose of steroids and pain pills and seems to be so doing fine now.  She is now on joint supplements and we may had long term carprofen to help with her joints.

1/6/24 – Marley Monroe has been adopted.  Congrats Marley Monroe and Jackson family!
