Dozer Dan – March 6th, 2023

12/22/21 – Please welcome Dozer Dan! Dozer’s owner had not been taking care of him, so he turned him over to an acquaintance that turned him over to rescue for some much-needed vet care and a new home. He is covered in fleas and has extremely long nails. We are treating him for a severe ear infection and skin infection. He has been diagnosed with dry eye and will be on prescription eye drops for life. He will also be in arthritis medication. Once we get him feeling a litter better, we will move forward with airway and dental surgery.

1/6/22 – Dozer had his surgery today and all went well. His mouth was a bit of a mess, he had several puss pockets, and we had to remove four teeth. He had the rest of his teeth cleaned, his palate shortened, his saccules removed, his nares widened and a mass on his foot removed. We are still trying to get his ear infections under control. He will see the vet again in two weeks for a recheck.

1/15/22 – The mass we removed from Dozer’s paw came back as a benign growth. And his thyroid test came back normal.

1/26/22 – Dozer had a follow up to check his ears, they are looking much better but his infections are not completely cleared up yet.  We will continue to treat the infection and he will see the vet again in two weeks for another recheck.  He does have arthritis and is overweight; both things are causes him to move a little slow and he does not maneuver steps very well.

6/7/22 – Dozer Dan did see the orthopedic specialist today to be sure there is nothing more we can do to help with his arthritis and mobility. He does have Bilateral cranial cruciate ligament tears, medial patellar luxations, elbow osteoarthritis, carpal hyperextension. The surgeon is not optimistic that surgery will have a significant impact on his quality of life and does not feel that he is a candidate for surgery.  We will continue a weight loss plan and current dose of /carprofen.

10/1/22 – Dozer Dan is having some allergy issues.  We are trying some oral medications and will do a blood allergy test and see where we should go from there.
