Mabel – November 7th, 2013

Mabel is living the good life with her new family in Atlanta and is a pampered princess who goes to work with mom and dad, everyday. She has gotten comfortable enough in her new home that she has even made a new doggy friend to keep her company during walks.

November 7, 2013: 5 1/2 years ago, when GEBR was a VERY new organization, I met a wonderful couple who volunteered to foster. Craig and Lauriel were one of our very first foster parents, who fostered and ultimately adopted one of our very first rescued bulldogs, her name was Mabel. Neither Craig or Lauriel were ready to adopt another bulldog as they had lost their precious Tugg just a few weeks before but….IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. A skinny little girl who had known very little kindness in her life, who we later learned had buckshot pellets embedded in the tissue of her hind end giving us all a glimpse of just how terrible her previous life was and limped from arthritis in her front leg, was embraced and loved. Mabel had her challenges emotionally and physically but Lauriel and Craig never wavered in their loyalty or dedication to this precious soul. She had a wonderful life and was able to go to work with Mommy and Daddy every day. Mabel never wanted for anything, got the very best care medical science had to offer and knew nothing other than LOVE AND ACCEPTANCE from her new family.

Lauriel and Craig have become a very big part of the GEBR family since that day and along with their love for Mabel and their desire to help other bulldogs, made it possible for GEBR to grow into the organization it is today. Lauriel is one of our board members.

Mabel crossed the Rainbow Bridge on November 7, 2013 in her mommy’s arms having known a warm bed, a full tummy and most important of all….LOVE!!! Thank you Craig and Lauriel for giving Mabel THE BEST DAYS OF HER LIFE.

Rest in Peace precious baby girl, you will forever be “Our Mabel”.
