5/28/24 – Please welcome Laverne Lyn! This poor girl has had a hectic few hours but is safe with us now. Her owner brought her (and another dog) to the animal shelter to surrender them. The shelter was on lockdown because of parvo so they told the owner they could not take the dogs. The shelter told the owner to contact our rescue. He said he would but instead he left the shelter, drove a 1/2 mile down the street and left the dogs on the side of the road. Someone saw them, grabbed them, put them in his truck and drove them to the shelter. The shelter obviously knew the dogs and the owner, so they called the owner to come get his dogs. In the meantime one of them (the other dog, not Lavern Lyn) was overheating so they told him he had to take the dogs to a vet clinic for care. The shelter gave him a citation for dropping the dogs on the side of the road. The owner drove the dogs to an emergency clinic but did not ask for vet care he asked to have them euthanized. One of the employees at the clinic contacted a friend of hers that contacted us and we had a volunteer there within the hour to pick up the dogs and have the owner sign them over to the rescue.
