Gladiator

2/19/20: Please welcome Gladiator! He joins us from Whitfield County Animal Control. He was picked up as a stray and one of our volunteers immediately picked him up at the shelter for transport to our vet clinic. Upon arrival to the vet clinic his back end was covered on blood. Is was suspected that he could not hear or see and he is stress out and reactive from the pain he is in. Our vet was able to sedate him, clean up his back end and determined he is an abscesses tail pocket infection. He has been given pain medication and will have tail amputation surgery tomorrow.

2/20/20: Gladiator had tail amputation surgery. The surgery went ok, he did show small signs of stress under. His also needs to be neutered, have his palate shortened, have his saccules removed, have entropion surgery on both eye lids, have his teeth cleaned and have a few decaying teeth extracted. These things will have to wait until a later time. He has also been diagnosed with dry eye, we have started treating this with tacrolimus eye drops.

3/6/20: Gladiator went back to the clinic yesterday with an infection near his tail amputation site. The vet was able to flush out the infection as complete the other needed surgeries. The old man has been through a lot the past week weeks but he will be feeling better in no time.

3/20/20: Gladiator got his stitches out today and is healing nicely. He seems to have some hearing and some vision. He is enjoying the good life!

3/21/20: Gladiator has been adopted. Congrats Gladiator, Rebecca and Ken!
