Bluebelle – August, 2014

9/2/13: The story behind The Cherokee Girls…
Monday morning we received a FB message from Casey. She had recently taken in these girls from a family friend and needed our help finding them new homes. None of them had been vetted, all of them had fleas and worms, and only one was spayed. We took two in that afternoon and got them to the vet and the other two over this past weekend. Thank you for trusting us with these girls Casey!

Please welcome Bluebelle! Overall she looks ok, but has huge nipples and brown paws. She has been breed and reportedly was mean to her puppies.

She went to Dr Rush’s for surgery and shots. She now up to date on all vaccinations. She was spayed, had her teeth cleaned and had her palate shortened. She is a bit underweight.

She has not been on flea or HW preventative. She tested negative for HW now, but will need to be rechecked again in six months.

Bluebelle is six years old. She lived in a garage her entire life in a large run. We believe that she may not have even been let out of the run for potty breaks. She seems to be very protective of her run. She barks and other dogs, cats and people when they come near her run. But is fine once you open it and will even let you inside the run with her.

We are told she likes other dogs (but only when she is not in her run). She does not like when the cats are outside her run; she not meet them face to face. She has spent some time with a toddler and does fine with him but likes to nip at his toys and scooter if he is playing near by.

Bluebelle is not housebroken…yet!

Update 9/12/13: Bluebelle was been released from the vet and has moved into her foster home. She is submissive and sweet with people. She has two foster brothers but we are taking things slow with them. Her also has a baby skin sister that she seems to be very fond of. Bluebelle just wants to be touched and loved.

Update 9/23/13: Bluebelle is doing very well in her foster home.  She has picked up on potty training very quickly!  She gets along fine with her english bulldog foster brother but tends to stay away from the husky (he is still young and a little to active for Miss Bluebelle).  She craves human attention and follows her foster mom around the house.

Update 11/16/13: Stormy signed the papers this morning and Bluebelle is officially part of the family.  Congrats Bluebelle and Dean family!

Bluebell went to the rainbow bridge.  Please keep her family in your thoughts.
