2/9/23 – Please welcome Barley! Barley was picked up as a stary and turned over to us by the shelter. We are currently treating an upper respiratory infection but once that clears up he will have surgery. He does seem a bit fearful but not reactive, just scared. We are hopeful he will overcome this as he learns love and knows he is safe.
3/9/23 – Barley had surgery today and all went well! He was neutered, had his palate shortened, his tonsils removed, and his nares widened.
4/13/23 – Barley has been adopted. Congrats Barley and Lyons family!
approximate age: 3
approximate weight: 55 – he can stand to gain a few pounds
likes dogs: yes
likes cats: n/a
likes kids: we have only seen him around a few children when on leashed walks in the neighborhood, he seems submissive with them
food: Taste Of The Wild, Pacific Stream
lifelong medications: maybe calming supplements but we are still getting to know him
likes: food (of course), walks, people, sleeping, affection
dislikes: being left alone, loud noises such as car and machinery, he is reactive to TV
ideal home: He is somewhat scared and anxious so he needs a supportive person to work with him on his confidence. He also has puppy behaviors like randomly chewing on stuff or play biting if he is bored so it’s important to stimulate him with play and walks.
