Maddie – July 2nd, 2024

10/16/18:  Please welcome Darlene!  She joins us from Cobb County Animal Control. She was picked up by animal control as a stray and when no one came looking for her she joined the rescue.  She needs to be vaccinated, spayed, have cherry eye surgery and and entropion surgery.

She is three years old. She likes dogs but may need a little time to adjust to them.  At this time we do not know how she feels about cats or young children.

Update 10/17/18:  Darlene’s white blood cell count is extremely high and she has a skin infection.  We will check her blood work in a few days and if it is back to normal we will move forward with surgery.

Update 10/19/18:  Darlene is showing signs of a respiratory infection so we started her on medication for this today.  This is likely the cause of her high white blood cell count.  Once her respiratory infection clears up we will recheck her blood work and move forward with her surgery.  So far her tail pocket does not seem to be giving her any issues but we will continue to watch it and do tail amputation while she is under for her spay, cherry eye and entropion surgery.  We will also check her airway while she is under and move forward with palate surgery then if needed.

Update 10/26/18:  Darlene had her surgery today and all went well.  She was payed and had her cherry eye fixed.  She will move into her foster home in a few days.

Update 11/25/18:  Darlene has been adopted by her foster mom.  Congrats Darlene and Mary Jo!
