Ted

12/8/21 – Please welcome Ted! We just picked up Ted this morning. He was in the yard unsupervised, got out of the fence, got hit by a car, and now needs our help. Ted’s owner signed him over to the shelter you then turned him over to us for care. We are heading straight to the emergency clinic to see our orthopedic surgeon. At this time, we’re not sure if it is a broken pelvis, hip, or leg, but he is in a lot of pain and he is not walking.

12/9/21- Ted does not have any broken bones and did not need orthopedic surgery! He got a full work up today by the orthopedic surgeon, the neurologist, and the ophthalmologist. He is banged up and sore but does not need anything repaired. He is on pain medication and res.

12/13/21- Is walking on his own and feeling great! The vet felt he was ready for surgery so today he was neutered, had his palate shortened, had his saccules removed, had a few teeth extracted and had the remaining teeth cleaned. He has been diagnosed with dry eye and is now on prescription eye drops for life.

1/12/22 – Ted saw the orthopedic doctor yesterday for his follow up.  He seems to be filly recovered from being hit by the car but we are going to move forward with TPLO knee surgery.  He does have a tear in his knee, not related to the accident.  He does not seem to be in pain under exam but he does sit a lot, we think because the knee is bother him some and he prefers not to put a lot of weight on it.  He does have a little “shuffle” in his walk but we do think this neurological not orthopedic.  He will be having surgery next week.  He will see the vet two weeks after that to have his stitches removed then six weeks after that to have an x-ray.

1/20/22 – Ted had knee surgery today and all went well!  He will see the vet again in two weeks to get his stitches out then again in six weeks for his follow up x-ray and check up.  If he is ready at that time we will move forward with surgery on the other knee.

4/8/22 – Ted has been adopted.  Congrats Ted and Waters family!
