Hoss – August 13th, 2023

We welcome Hoss to the rescue! Hoss is an 18 month old male, surrender to his vet in north GA.
Hoss was diagnosed with demodex mange in August, 2011. After initial treatment, the vets office was unable to contact his owner to follow up treatment. One day, the owners landlord returned Hoss to the vet. Apparently the owner had lost her apartment and asked the landlord to care for Hoss until she found another place to live. After several weeks, the owner never returned and the landlord took Hoss back to his original vet. The owner was eventually contacted, she surrendered Hoss to the vet and then to GEBR for care. I quote…”go ahead and let them take him and get him treated, then I’ll adopt him back from them.” LOL….it will be a cold day in hell before that happens….we got your name, honey!
Hoss’ skin looks much worse than the pictures show, unfortunately. He will need to spend a little time at our vets to get this under control.
He’s a sweet boy and very happy.

Our promise to Hoss…you will never go back to your original owner. We will find you the perfect home who will treat you with love and kindness….no more bad days baby

Update 12/16/11: Hoss is still being treated for infections and mange.  He is not healthy enough to be neutered just yet.  He is enjoying some time in a foster home and will go back to the vet in two weeks to get scraped to see if the mange is gone and will hopefully be healthy enough then to be neutered.

Update 1/5/12: He is still fighting a yeast infection and mange but he loving life in his foster home. Once his skin is better he will be neutered.

Update 2/24/12: Hoss was neutered last week! And we are happy to report he is mange free! He still smells a little yeasty and there is some skin itchiness but once that is cleared up he will be adopted by his foster family.

Update 3/3/12:  Hoss has been adopted by his foster family!  Congrats Hoss, Steve, Lee, Stella and Scarlett!

August 13, 2023 – Hoss crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.  Please keep his family in your thoughts. Rest in Peace Hoss
