Please welcome Gretel to GEBR. She comes to us from Gracies Place Pet Rescue. They pulled her from the shelter in January after her owners dropped her off there. We are told that her owners became too old to care for her.
Gretel is three years old, spayed and up to date on her shots but she is heartworm positive. She is also deaf.
We are told she likes cats and dogs her size or larger but dislikes small dogs. She is at Riverside Animal Hospital now waiting to begin her heartworm treatment. She will stay there for her treatment and then be moved to a foster home.
Update 5/7/12: Gretel began her heartworm treatment. It will be three weeks of treatment and strict crate rest for her, then she will be moved to a foster home and ready for adoption.
Update 6/5/12: Gretel is completing heartworm treatment this weekend and will be ready to restart the newest chapter in her life. All agree that she is not deaf but is profoundly hard of hearing. Hopefully we’ll be able to share some good news upon her release from the hospital.
Update 6/9/12: What a great week for Gretel! She finished her heartworm treatment and got adopted! Congrats Gretel, Will and Teresa!
January 4, 2021: Gretel crossed over the Rainbow Bridge today. Please keep her family in your thoughts.
