7/8/26 – Please welcome Apollo! One of Apollo’s owners passed away, and the other was no longer able to care for him so they asked us to find him a new home. He had spent the last three years with his previous owner and had been well cared for. Prior to that he was with a breeder. He is already neutered and overall seems healthy, but our vet felt a large mass in one of his kidneys. Then x-rays confirmed this along with two smaller mass in his other kidney.
7/13/26 – Apollo had an ultrasound today to see if we can get a better idea of what type of masses are in his kidneys. The determination was inconclusive so he will see the specialist for further testing.
7/29/26 – Apollo saw the specialist today and it has been confirmed that the masses are not cancerous but they are fluid filled cysts. He has been diagnosed with Polycystic kidney disease which will need to monitoring renal values +/- abdominal ultrasound. They said most pets will progress to chronic renal disease at some point, at which time diet and
medical management can be initiated. For now he is not on any medication. His bloodwork is normal and he seems to act normal. He did have the cysts drained today.
Apollo is about 15 pounds overweight, which is extremely unhealthy and unnecessary. He is on a strict calories intake and exercise plan so that we can get him to a healthy weight.

likes dogs: we are told he does not like male dogs. We have noticed that overall he does not love to share human attention but does sometime enjoy his female dog foster sister. But overall we think he would be happiest as an only dog
likes cats: we have not seen him around cats
likes kids: we have not seen him around kids but are told from his previous owner that he had spent time around them and did well
food: Taste of the Wild, Pacific Stream
lifelong medications: joint supplements
likes: loves, attention, pets, being by his humans side all the time
dislikes: not being with his humans and sharing human attention with other dogs
ideal home: he would love a dog free home so that he doesn’t have to share attention and preferably a home where his people are home a lot/work from home/retired.
