8/25/25 – Please welcome Rylie! Rylie was picked up as a stray and turned over to us by the shelter. She is very timid right now and just wants to be carried around. She is underweight, has ear infections, untreated dry eye, a skin infection and an upper respiratory infection. Once she is feeling a little better we will move forward with surgery.
9/11/25 – Rylie had surgery today and all went well! She was spayed, had her palate shortened, her nares widened, her teeth cleaned and entropion on one lower eye lid. She appears to be “bull-legged” on her front legs but was either born that way or had some trauma at some point in her life. She seems to manage ok getting around the house and yard, but we have not seen her on steps so we do not know how she would manage those. Her eye are little cloudy from the years of untreated dry eye.
9/29/25 – Rylie had her follow up appt today and all went well. Her ear infections are gone and she skin looks great. She is officially cleared for adoption.
4/6/26 – Rylie had been dealing with an ear infections. She has a recheck today and they are still infected so we are changing her ear medication. She also has a lot of discharge from her eyes so we added in over the counter eye optix care eye lube with her prescription tacrolimus for her dry eye to see if this helps any.
4/26/26 – Rylie saw the vet again and her ears are looking much better but still showing a little bacteria so we are going to treat with he same ear medication for a little bit longer. We also checked her tear production and decided to change from tacrolimus to cyclosporine to treat her dry eyes since her tear production is not increasing.
Her foster mom mentioned she wasn’t drinking much water during the day but seemed to be drinking a large amount in the evenings. We did bloodwork just to be sure all looked ok so we assumed this was just a new behavior.
5/22/26 – She had an incident when eating her food to fast; she was choking and stopped breathing for a moment then went limp. She recovered quickly! She will be eating from an elevated slow feeder bowl moving forward.
5/27/26 – Rylie has another recheck on her ears and the infection is completely cleared up. We rechecked her tear production and her dry eye levels are improving on the cyclosporine drops. Her foster mom mentioned she was urinating more often than usual so we did a urinalysis. It showed no bacteria but red and white blood cells in the urine (means typically means blood in urine from kidneys or bladder). We will move forward with an ultrasound tomorrow to look at her kidneys, bladder and her heart since she did have that episode recently while eating.
5/28/26 – Rylie had her ultrasound to day and we discovered a few things that we are now addressing.
She does not have bladder or kidney stones, but she has a lot of microscopic debris in her bladder. It’s nothing to get too concerned about but we have put her on a prescription urinary diet to help clear that up.
She does have gastritis (inflammation in her stomach). We started her on over the counter Pepcid.
She is showing signs of heart disease. We need to start her on pimobendan and enalapril. We did X-rays and she does not have fluid in her lungs. She will have a recheck on heart and stomach in three months the to see how things are progressing.

likes cats: she does not mind the one in her foster home
likes kids: she spent a week with two kids ages 3 and 4 and did well with them
food: Taste of the wild, Pacific Stream
lifelong medications: cyclosporine prescription eye drops for dry eye, over the counter eye lubrication drops, joint supplements, pepcid, pimobendan and enalapril
Likes? Hang out outside with her foster mom, sleeping, food, playing just a little bit, rubs and scratches.
Dislikes? coming back inside the house after hanging outside with her foster mom
What would be the ideal home for this dog? She would fit in just about any laid back home that does have a lot of steps, one with an outdoor space for lounging with her people, young loud kids might be too much for her but older ones would be good, dogs or cats in the house would be ok too, she would love a home where she can get a lot of love and attention
