Billie Jean

4/23/24 – Please welcome Billie Jean! Billie Jean was picked up as a stray and turned over to us by animal control. She is in need of emergency surgery. A witness told animal control that she had been hanging around the area for a few days and that someone got out of their car, kicked her and then hit her with the car. She is at the emergency clinic now for evaluation and will be having surgery in the morning. She is safe and comfortable now!

4/24/24 – Billie Jean is out of surgery, and all went well. She had femoral head ostectomy (FHO) surgery to fix her damaged hip. She also had her palate shortened, her tonsils removed, and her nares widened.

4/25/24 – Billie Jean got released from the clinic today! She will be on strict crate rest for a week then some at home rehab therapy for the next month. She is expected to make full recovery but will also look a little “off “ when she walks.

5/30/24 – Billie Jean saw the specialist today for her follow up exam and x-rays. She is looking great and has been cleared for more activity and her next surgery.

6/19/24 – Billie Jean had her surgery today and all went well. She was spayed, had her teeth cleaned and had five masses removed from various parts of her body. Two of them looked a little suspicious so we sent them off for biopsy.

7/1/24 – Billie Jean’s biopsy reports came back, and the masses were benign! She is now cleared for adoption.

approximate age: 5
approximate weight: 42
likes dogs: yes
likes cats: yes
likes kids: she seems to enjoy the ones she has met but is a tad mouthy when she thinks there is a treat near by, so we will not be placing her with small children. She should be fine with older children that understand boundaries when it comes to animals and food
food: Taste of the Wild, Pacific Stream
lifelong medications: prescription eye drops for dry eye
likes: when her people are excited to see her, butt and ear rubs, treats, napping in her crate, dancing when she’s excited, solving food puzzles, going for car rides
dislikes: not getting a treat after she gets her eye drops and being startled when someone sneaks up on her
ideal home: she would love a home with people that will get on the floor to cuddle and play with her, she does better on rugs then hardwoods but is getting better with them daily, she would do best in a home with not a lot of steps, a family that will take her out and socialize with her, a home without small children
