Beckett

4/26/24 – Please welcome Beckett! Beckett wandered onto someone’s porch last week. The finder attempted to locate his owner and reached out to the local shelter to report him found. Luckly the finder was able to foster him through his stray hold so he didn’t have to go to the shelter. He joined the rescue once the stray hold was up. He is malnourished and will need to be neutered once he gets to a healthy weight. 5/5/24 – Unfortunately, Becket has a prolapsed urethra so we will need to move forward with neuter surgery sooner than originally planned. His blood work is a little off so we will do an ultrasound first to be sure all is ok with him before doing surgery.

5/6/24 – Beckett had an ultrasound today. He seems to have a little inflammation, but we are assuming this is from the diet change only.

5/7/24 – Beckett had surgery today and all went well. He was neutered, had his nares widened and had his teeth cleaned. He will be on strict crate rest to prevent any excitement for the next two weeks while we monitor his prolapsed urethra. The hope is that now that he is neutered, and he stays calm, that the prolapse will correct itself. If not, we will consult with the specialist for additional surgery.

5/31/24 – Beckett saw the specialist today and it has been decided that we move forward with additional surgery to correct the prolapse.

6/5/24 – Beckett had his surgery today and all went well. He had a urethropexy and partial urethral amputation. He remain on strict crate rest for a few more weeks but we expect he will make a full recovery and the prolapse will not reoccur.

7/15/24 – Beckett is completely healed from surgery and ready for adoption. He does still get over stimulated quickly, which can lead to some hyper arm chomping but his foster parents are working in this behavior daily. He is making progress but will need an adopter that will continue to work with him daily so he can be the best version of himself.
