DiDi

5/5/13: Please welcome DiDi.  She is a two year old owner surrender.  She and her brother have been fighting so her owner thought it would be best to let us find her a new home.  She was picking fights with her brother whenever he wanted human attention.  She was jealous and not interested in sharing the spotlight.  She and her brother Diesel are from the same parents but from a different litter.

Update 5/22/13: DiDi is doing well in her foster home but she loves to jump on people when she sees them and often pops them in the face.  Michelle Flowers of Sit Stay Obey has volunteered her time to work with DiDi on correcting this behavior and teaching her some basic commands.  Michelle, DiDi and Heidi (DiDi’s foster mom) had a training session last night.  DiDi is a good girl and wants to please so we know she will learn quickly!  Thank you Michelle and Heidi for helping DiDi be the best that she can be!

She is spayed and up to date on her shots.  She will not be placed in a home with other dogs.  She is a bit too excited and strong to be with young children so she will only be placed in a home with older children or no children.

Update 7/11/13: DiDi is doing great in her foster home but is eager to find her forever home!  Here are a few things we have learned about her since being in her foster home.

She doesn’t mind having her ears or face cleaned at all, loves attention (but does not care for the smell of Listerine). She even seems ok when you squish her nose. She has not chewed up any of her foster mom’s belongings or her bully blanket; she only chews her toys. Her toenails will scratch up the hard wood floors and car interior so a carrier for the car is a good idea. Or she would prefer to lay her head in your lap when you are driving.

She stays downstairs and leaves the cat alone – because she knows “stay” (there is no gate blocking the stairs). Her foster mom can control her jumping now but it still happens for a minute when she comes home each day.  She thinks she is a puppy sometimes, wants to play, please, loves to run around and jump. She is in heaven when she gets to play w/ her ball! She doesn’t understand fetch but loves for you to throw or kick a ball for her. But if you run from her while you are playing she will jump on you.  A behavior that the trainer says can be corrected over time.  She knows sit, down, stay and gets in her crate when told.  She wants to be a lap dog and is very affectionate, has never been snappy with anyone.

She seems to be interested in other dogs but not aggressive.  She will avoid yappy dogs and is possibly even a little scared of them.  But because of her history with her brother we will not place her in a forever home with another dog.  It sounds like she might enjoy a few doggie friends or play dates but would not like to share her humans full time.

Update 7/23/13: DiDi has been adopted!  Congrats DiDi, Denise and Dwight!

DiDi crossed over the rainbow bridge.  Please keep his family in your thoughts.

Rest In Peace DiDi
